San Diego Eats

This Jack in the Box was a couple blocks from our condo and is the nicest one we've ever seen. We didn't eat there- we have Jack in the Box here, but we did try to convince Dan that the tacos are awesome. They really are.

This restaurant came highly recommended on Trip Advisor. It's know for being cheap, having large portions, and excellent breakfast. We agreed.

CHICKEN APPLE SAUSAGE & EGGS
Chicken apple sausage is lightly sautéed, served with crispy rosemary potatoes, grilled rosemary bread, and scrambled eggs

STRAWBERRY GRANOLA PANCAKES
Three pancakes with fresh strawberries and grain cereal
This 1950s style diner was recommended by our National Geographic travel guide book. The food was nothing special, but it was affordable in a very unaffordable neighborhood. The highlight of the meal was the jukebox full of oldies.

Yum. On our first visit (yes, we went more than once), the restaurant drive thru was so crowded that they set up cones in the parking lot and an attendant was taking orders from the back of the line.
These fast food joints have been family owned for 60 years and the food is made fresh to order.
This is a Double-Double

From the Not-so-secret menu- the grilled cheese. Mom loved it. Most restaurants get weirded out by vegetarian food, but not them. They just take out the meat, and that's exactly what mom wants.
Mom wasn't too impressed with the fries. She was told she should ask for them double-fried (apparently, this is what makes McDonald's fries so good), but this didn't improve the flavor for her. She said the chocolate milkshake more than made up for the fries.
