Those bright red spots are Sockeye salmon. There are also a few grayish Chinook in there, too.

'Tis the season that salmon are making their journey to their birthplace to spawn and die. The Renton Library has an excellent view of the river and salmon.

Creatures of the Night


The City of Tacoma has an excellent parks department. They had a nocturnal animal night at their Nature Center. A guide led us on a short trail, and there were various activities for kids.

Jack-O'-Lanterns



We had three carving pumpkins, but one fell over and got smashed. It was a nice tall green one that my dad was going to turn into Frankenstein. We picked out the smaller pumpkins from our farm.

First, we must select the perfect pumpkins for carving at our local farmer's pumpkin patch. Then, we travel a little further for pumpkin patch entertainment.

After school one day, we headed to the science center. We watched a live science show all about sound, and to finish off the day we saw an IMAX movie about the Canadian Rocky Mountain Railway.
