Can we make a mummy?
Gabe is really into mummies right now. We watched a National Geographic special about mummies the other day. In it, a professor decides he is going to try to create a mummy exactly the same way ancient Egyptians would have. They show all the steps of how to prepare the cadaver. One of the most important parts is getting tons of salt from the salt fields.
So, a few days ago, Gabe says, "Mom, can I make a mummy?"
"You can draw one, we can't make one."
"All we need is salt. We can go buy some salt at the store."
"Gabe you have to have a dead body. And we don't have one."
"We could go to the graveyard and dig one up."
"Uh, no, we can't. "
"Why not?"
"Because dead bodies stink really bad, and it's against the law. So, you can draw one, okay?"
"All right"
He then draws the various phases of mummification.

Gabe school update
We learned our lesson from last year, and decided to start looking for schools for Gabe early. (No, I can't send my baby into the public school system, yet.) We found one! It is about 5 minutes down the street from our house, and not too expensive. It is a Christian non-denominational kindergarten. There are about 18 kids in the class. The teachers were really nice. We look forward to sending him there next year.
