Surgery Update

Gabe's surgery was a success. His tongue is clipped, no stitches, no pain. Just a day of ice cream, mac 'n cheese and other soft foods.

Just wanted to let everyone know that Gabe is going in for surgery tomorrow (July 5th) at Children's Hospital. He will have to go under general anesthesia to get his ankyloglossia issue taken care of.

San Diego's "World Famous" Zoo

When we got inside the zoo gates, I asked a zoo worker if there were any baby giraffes, and sure enough they had one

They had lots of koalas. Most of them were sleeping. (Did you know they sleep 22 hours a day?) They would wake up for a second then go back to sleep.

The elephants had a really large (2.4 acres) enclosure they could walk around in.

Mom wants her own cheetah. They have a strange cheetah/dog program at the zoo. The cheetahs are raised with dogs and they hang out together.

Overall, the zoo was pretty impressive. It's very large and we spent almost all day there and skipped out on some stuff. Apparently, they have a really great gorilla area we missed. We were exhausted when we left.
Zoo admission includes unlimited rides on a gondola that crosses over the park and a guided bus tour of the zoo.

My mom was a little disappointed with some aspects- this being a "world famous" zoo and all. She is always sad to see large cats is small enclosures. The elephants had lots of roaming room and the birds had large and nice aviaries, but like all other zoos the cats were pretty confined (except the cheetahs that got to go for walks around the park). The San Diego Zoo does have a much larger sister Safari park and I think they rotate animals between the two.

If you're ever in San Diego and you like zoos you should definitely check it out.
